In a communique dated 20th January 2021, the Mauritius Revenue Authority (“MRA”) reminds taxpayers that payment of taxes should be made electronically.
The MRA also provides that there are only 2 accepted modes of payments with 2 modes of payments being phased out.
Accepted Modes of Payment
1. Direct Debit
2. Online Credit Card
Direct Debit
To use this system, taxpayers must fill in a PLACH direct debit mandate form which is available on the MRA website. This form must then be deposited or sent by post to the MRA Head Office.
Online Credit Card
This is only available for individual income tax and where the tax payable amount does not exceed Rs. 25, 000.

Mode of Payment Not Accepted/Being Phased Out

2. Mobile Money Service
Internet Banking facility
For individual taxpayers effecting payment of Income Tax through the Internet Banking facility, they are informed that this payment mode has phased out since 1st January 2021.
Mobile Money Service
This service is also known as “Orange Money”. Individual taxpayers should note that this service will cease to operate as from the 5th April 2021
