Bahrain national assembly doubles their VAT rate to 10%

On 8 December 2021, Bahrain’s National Assembly has approved the bill for an increase in the standard VAT rate.

Under this new law, the VAT increases to 10%. This is double the previous rate of 5%.

The effective date is 1 January 2022.

However, the bill has not been published yet. Therefore, this new law will only enter into force upon publication in the Bahrain Official Gazette.
